SANDAKAN: Police here are on the trail of a man who allegedly robbed an elderly woman at Sibuga Market, Mile 8, on Saturday.

Acting district police chief Supt Ramasamy Kuppa said the 67-year-old woman was allegedly robbed in the market’s parking lot.

“The woman is a fermented vegetable seller. At the time of the incident, her handbag, which was placed on the front passenger seat, was stolen by an unknown man.

“The man then fled the scene in a car," he said on Saturday.

Ramasamy called on the public who have any information about the incident to contact the case investigating officer, Inspector Morshidi Sian, at 0138332996.

The incident was also recorded by a closed-circuit camera of a premises near the scene and went viral.
