KENINGAU: A new parliamentary constituency should be created in Keningau, said Star Deputy President Datuk Robert Tawik.
Robert said the Keningau constituency has 87,588 voters, comprising 30,433 voters in the Liawan state constituency, 27,768 in Tambunan and 29,387 in Bingkor.
“If we look at Keningau, it borders with Ranau and Tambunan…the area can fit in Melaka, Kedah and Perlis, but we only have one parliamentary constituency,” he said when met at Sabah PKR chairman Datuk Sangkar Rasam’s Aidilfitri open house, here.
To this end, Robert proposes to the Election Commission (EC) to consider re-delineating electoral boundaries to create a new Tambunan parliamentary constituency.
Echoing the proposal, Sangkar said the people would benefit more if the area had two parliamentary constituencies.
