Kota Kinabalu: The Moffatts – a popular 1990s musical duo comprising twins – performed to a select audience of over 100 at Hilton KK’s “The Club”, recently.

It was the first visit to Malaysia in 25 years for Bob and Clint Moffatt under their Music Travel Love project launched in 2018 to combine their passion for music, travel, and family life.

Their social media platform highlights the duo’s travels to scenic locations and performing acoustic covers against a panoramic backdrop, an initiative which has attracted over 1.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Bob said the opportunity to perform in Sabah was in alignment with their desire to shoot a video in Malaysia.

“We definitely wanted to get here to make a video, and there was an opportunity to come and play a show.

“We decided that if we’re going to come here, we might as well showcase the beauty of Malaysia.

“As for the location of the shoot, it is still a secret! There’s so many great spots around… you’ll have to wait and see when it comes out on YouTube,” he told Daily Express.

The brothers rose to fame as part of a family band that included fraternal triplet Dave and older brother Scott.

The band achieved wide success as one of the most popular acts in Southeast Asia before disbanding in 2001.

Dubbed “the youngest band to ever sign a major label recording contract” in the 1990s, the Moffatts are now releasing music independently.

Clint said today’s modern technology enables them to access their fans directly.

“It’s actually a great time to be an independent artist. Now with social media, you have so many opportunities to get your music out there.

“For anyone wishing to follow in those footsteps, just believe in yourself and in what you’re doing and work hard every day, and you will find your audience,” he said.

Hilton KK Commercial Director Shona Labasing said The Club is becoming an ideal venue for gatherings of all kinds, including birthdays, bachelor parties, and company outings.

It also has two private rooms.
