Kota Kinabalu: Plans to bring back the remains of Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) founder Tan Sri Joseph Kurup to Sabah on Thursday had to be postponed due to a volcanic eruption in Indonesia.
Kurup, who passed away at the age of 79 on Wednesday, was initially scheduled to be flown back to Sabah via a commercial flight at 9:15am.
According to an earlier announcement, Kurup's remains were to be transported directly from the airport to Fook Lu Siew Coffin Supplies Sdn Bhd in Kota Kinabalu for final rites, with an estimated arrival time of 12pm.
However, these plans had to be changed due to the eruption of Mount Ruang in Indonesia.
