17 unscathed after express bus catches fire near Ipoh

PETALING JAYA: All 16 passengers and the driver of an express bus escaped unhurt when the vehicle caught fire at KM242.3 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound, near Ipoh, late last night.

Ipoh fire and rescue department operations commander Fawwaz Abdul Jamil said they received a distress call at midnight, Bernama reported.

He said firemen were able to bring the flames under control by12.50am but by then, the fire had already caused up to 80% damage to the bus.

According to Bernama, the affected passengers were transferred to another bus to continue their journey.
