Fire destroys pineapple plantation in Beaufort
BEAUFORT: Half of a two-acre pineapple plantation in peat soil at Kampung Takuli Lorong Dua, here, was destroyed by fire, on Thursday.

Beaufort Fire and Rescue Station Chief Muhammad Hasbullah Nenggok said they received an emergency call at 3.02pm and deployed two machines.

“Firefighters had to use floating pumps to extinguish the fire by drawing water from the ditch.

“The danger of peat soil is that once it starts burning, it is difficult to extinguish. Therefore, we advise farmers to be more cautious,” said Hasbullah.
