A dream come true for Sabahans: NGO
Eva said the Federal Government’s decision is a huge relief to countless individuals who previously had to endure the inconvenience and financial burden of travelling long distances for essential medical care. 
Kota Kinabalu: The Society of Sabah Heart Fund (SOSHF) welcomed the Prime Minister’s RM80 million allocation for the establishment of Sabah’s first heart centre as a momentous Aidilfitri gift to the people of Sabah.

President Datuk Eva Susau described the approval of a national heart as a “beacon of hope” and a significant step forward in transforming healthcare infrastructure in the region.

“This landmark decision is not only a testament to the government’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of its citizens but also a triumph for all Sabahans who have long awaited accessible and quality heart treatment facilities closer to home,” she said. 

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced an immediate allocation of RM80 million for a National Heart Centre in Sabah, which would make it the second-largest after the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur.

She noted the people can now access prompt and effective treatment for heart-related conditions.

“This monumental initiative will undoubtedly alleviate the burden of existing facilities while improving the overall health outcomes and quality of life for citizens,” said Eva who commended the Federal Government’s foresight and dedication in prioritising the healthcare needs of Sabahans. 

“As we embark on this transformative journey towards enhanced healthcare accessibility and excellence in Sabah, the Sabah Heart Fund pledges its full support and cooperation to ensure the successful establishment and operation of the  National Heart Institute Sabah,” she said.

Eva noted the SOSHF pledges its full support and cooperation to ensure the successful establishment and operation of the National Heart Institute and looks forward to the positive impact of the National Heart Institute on the lives of Sabahans for generations to come. 

“We are thrilled to witness the fruition of our collective endeavours,” said Eva who noted the SOSHF has spent countless efforts in advocating and lobbying for the establishment of such facilities for the welfare of the people.
