Kota Kinabalu: The Lions Clubs International District 308-A2, Regions 5, 6, and 7 are organising a fundraising bazaar at the BMW showroom from 8am to 6pm on Aug 4.
Organising Chairman Leslie Chan said the event would feature 50 stalls offering a variety of food, beverages and other products.
Currently, 13 Lions Clubs and JCI Tanjung Aru and Persatuan Buah Buahan Negeri Sabah confirmed their participation.
“We are hoping to raise RM250,000 to implement seven projects, namely vision, hunger, diabetes, cancer, environment, humanitarian and youth, for the benefit of the needy,” said Chan during a press conference.
Its Project Secretary, Peter Liau, said last year they managed to raise RM120,000 to carry out 14 projects in several districts throughout the State.
“Last year, we completed water gravity projects in Tenom, Keningau, and Kota Belud, benefiting 1,000 to 2,000 rural communities,” said Liau.
“We have also successfully implemented the coral planting project in Manukan Island.”
They urged the public to support the fundraising bazaar, as the small gesture goes a long way in helping the less fortunate.
Coupons valued at RM50 and RM100 per booklet are now available for sale.
They hope to get more sponsors and supporters, as their contributions can help improve the lives of the targeted group.
