KENINGAU: Christian staff from the district police headquarters attended a holy mass at the Nulu Sosopon Catholic Church near here on Sunday, in conjunction with the celebration of the 217th Police Day.

District Police Chief Supt Yampil Garai said this religious activity is one of the annual events to enliven the celebration of Police Day, which is celebrated on March 25 every year.

“This activity provides an opportunity for police personnel to strengthen their relationship with the community so that the spirit of close police-community relations continues to thrive,” he said.

Bishop Datuk Cornelius Piong led the holy mass.

Yampil said that the district police headquarters staff organised various community activities, including visiting retired police personnel, in conjunction with this year’s Police Day celebration.

Recently, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) also held a Crime Prevention Carnival and Blood Donation Campaign in collaboration with other agencies and non-governmental organisations.
