LAHAD DATU: Police here detained six individuals allegedly involved in raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl.
District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said police received a report on the incident involving the secondary student early this month.
He said preliminary investigations revealed it occurred in the beginning of this year at the victim’s house and vehicle.
“Result of investigation found that six individuals were involved. Acting on information, our team detained all six suspects, aged between 13 and 40.
“We have applied for remand and all the suspects were tested negative for drug abuse,” he said in a statement, Wednesday.
Dzulbaharin said investigations are ongoing under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
Dzulbaharin urged parents and guardians to always monitor the movement, association and behavior of their children as rape cases involving underage girls are quite worrying.
He said they should also check on their children’s smartphone and look into uploaded internet information.
“No intercourse should occur before marriage and intercourse with girls under 16 is an offence, even with consent,” he said.
