Farmers’ Organisation Authority allocates RM500,000 for Keningau farmers
Arthur said, it means 70pc of the value of the machinery or equipment will be financed by the LPP while the remaining 30pc is under the responsibility of the applicant with a limit on the purchase of machinery or equipment up to RM20,000.
KENINGAU: The Farmers’ Organisation Authority (LPP) allocated RM500,000 to help 17 Area Farmers’ Organisations (PPK) throughout Sabah to have small and medium machinery.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, said LPP is committed to helping farmers through matching grants for the ownership of small and medium machinery throughout the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) period.

“For the Fourth Rolling Plan (RP4) under the 12MP, LPP approved an allocation of RM1 million to fund applications from 20 PPKs in Sabah,” he said when speaking at the leaders and farmers event in Kampung Panagatan Ulu, here, recently.

It was attended by some 120 farmers from the district. He said the use of mechanisation technology and machinery in the agricultural sector is able to increase productivity and reduce dependency on labour force, thus, ensuring food security.

Through the Small and Medium Machinery Ownership Programme with Matching Grants, he said, LPP offers financing for the purchase of machinery with a ratio of 70:30.

Arthur said, it means 70pc of the value of the machinery or equipment will be financed by the LPP while the remaining 30pc is under the responsibility of the applicant with a limit on the purchase of machinery or equipment up to RM20,000.

He also called on members of the farmers involved in agriculture to take the opportunity and apply at the Farmers’ Organisation office according to their respective fields of endeavour.

“In general, among the machines that can be applied for are mini harvest machinery (jentuai), two-wheeled tractors, planting machinery (jentanam) and suitable small agricultural equipment,” he said.

At the event, Arthur who is also Pensiangan MP, presented the approval for the purchase of small and medium machinery through a matching grant programme to PPK Keningau worth RM39,000.

Also present were LPP Deputy Director General (Development), Amir Matamin, Sabah LPP Director, Hadriyani Ahmad and Keningau PPK Board of Directors Chairman, Alexius @ Sius Paulus.
