JAKARTA: Indonesia strongly condemned the blockade and looting of international humanitarian aid meant for the people of Gaza by Israeli civilians.

In a post on social media Thursday, the foreign affairs ministry asserted: “This action should be duly prosecuted, and steps must be taken to ensure that it does not happen again.”

The ministry highlighted that the negligence exhibited by Israeli security forces proves Israel’s ongoing efforts to impede the distribution of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza through various means.

The UN Security Council is urged to seek guarantees from Israel for the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid to prevent the worsening of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

“Guaranteeing the smooth delivery of humanitarian assistance is very important,” the ministry emphasised.

Al-Arabiya portal news reported that Israeli protesters disrupted aid trucks bound for Gaza on Monday, throwing food packages onto the road and tearing open bags of grain in the occupied West Bank.

The incident took place at the Tarqumiya checkpoint west of Hebron. The trucks, coming from Jordan, were headed to the Gaza Strip, where residents urgently require humanitarian assistance.
