Kota Kinabalu: Police arrested a man for shooting a grass-cutter with an air gun at a housing area in Luyang, here, on Sunday.
City Police Chief ACP Kasim Muda said a pellet pierced the 23-year-old victim’s right arm, injuring his ribs, in the 9.30am incident.
“The two men were taking a break from grass-cutting when the victim felt a jolt of pain.
“They said not to have heard the gunshot as it was noisy with all the grass-cutting activities going on,” he said in a statement.
Kasim said the suspect was later arrested and a few airguns and three karambit knives kept behind a door were seized.
He advised the public against owning or using replica firearms as it is against the law.
The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code and Section 36 of the Arms Act 1960.
