Kota Kinabalu: A 22-year-old was charged with having three kerambits and a bukulima (sharp weapon) in public.
Jeremy Chong Yu Xuan pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan to the charge against him.
Chong is accused of having the sharp weapons in public at 10.30am on May 19 at a house in Taman Green View, Jalan Lintas Luyang, here.
The offence under Section 7(1) Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offences Weapons Act carries a jail term of between five and 10 years, and whipping, on conviction.
The court set June 27 for pre-trial case management and ordered Chong to be remanded further pending the date.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Dacia Jane Romanus prosecuted while Chong was not represented.
Meanwhile in the Magistrate’s Court, Chong also claimed trial to having a fake gun and two unit of fake pistols.
Chong who made the plea before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie, allegedly had the the fake firearms at 1.30pm on the same day and place as the charges in Sessions Court.
His pre-trial case management was on June 27 and the court offered him bail of RM2,000 in two local sureties.
