KOTA KINABALU: Some 150 Junior Chamber International (JCI) members across Malaysia participated in the 2024 JCI Malaysia Area Sabah Convention (ASC).
Organised by JCI Moyog it was held from May 17 to 19 at Ming Garden Hotel.
Led by Convention Director John Tan Kar How, the convention aimed to provide a platform for young leaders to exchange ideas and learn from each other.
The agenda featured competitions such as debates in both English and Chinese, public speaking contests, and the Parliamentary Procedure Quiz.
Experts from various fields were invited to share insights on topics including financial management, artificial intelligence, and the journey of JCI development.
The opening was officiated by Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun, representing the Chief Minister.
The highlight of the convention was the “Sabahan Night”, officiated by the Sabah Tourism Board. The closing was attended by Shellynn E Lo representing Datuk Ewon Benedick, Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister.
“Sabahan Night” was one of the key highlights of the convention, showcasing Sabah’s unique culture and hospitality through cultural performances.
The event aimed to deepen the understanding and appreciation of Sabahan culture and tradition through performance as well as cuisines.
Throughout the three-day event, the winners of various competitions earned the opportunity to represent JCI Malaysia Area Sabah at the upcoming JCI Malaysia National Convention, where they will compete against top contenders from other areas of JCI Malaysia.
The national champions will then have the honour of representing JCI Malaysia to the JCI Asia-Pacific Conference and the JCI World Congress, competing with top talents from around the world.
During the event, the majority of the participants provided highly positive feedback, describing it as the best and most memorable JCI Malaysia Area Convention they had ever attended.
