Kota Kinabalu: The Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society Penampang is one of the proactive non-governmental organisations in the district, said Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Christina Liew.
Speaking as the guest of honour at the Society’s 22nd Anniversary Dinner gathering at the Sabah Hakka Hall on Sunday night, she praised the society’s leaders for preserving unity among its 2,000 members for more than two decades.
“Only through unity will an organisation be able to achieve its goals and remain progressive for the benefit of members. Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society Penampang has come of age.
“I am glad to learn that the Society is in the process of putting up its own official premises on a 6.2-acre piece of land in Bukit Padang. This augurs well for the future of the Society,” Liew said.
Site clearing for the proposed three-storey building project started in April this year, and earthwork is in progress now as indicated in a video presentation.
Meanwhile, Liew announced a donation of RM50,000 in aid of the Society’s anniversary event.
