Kota Kinabalu: Police here arrested three men and seized substances suspected to be ecstasy and ketamine.
The arrests and seizures were made during multiple raids on May 27.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief ACP Kasim Muda, in a statement Tuesday, said the first raid took place around 7.45pm on May 27 when a team from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department intercepted a white car parked in front of an apartment building.
Two male suspects were apprehended and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of three packets containing powder suspected to be ecstasy, as well as two packets containing crystal lumps believed to be ketamine.
Acting on information obtained during the initial interrogation, the police conducted a second raid around 11.40pm in Penampang.
During this operation, a third male suspect was arrested and five packets containing powder suspected to be ecstasy were seized.
Further investigations and searches at the suspect’s residence led to the seizure of 185 packets containing powder suspected to be ecstasy, with an estimated weight of 5.78kg.
Kasim commended the police team for their efficient operation and said the authorities remain committed to combating the drug menace.
He urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and provide any relevant information to assist in the fight against drug trafficking.
