Tawau break-in: 4 held
Jasmin said, acting on information on May 21 around 10.30am, a team from the Tawau Criminal Investigation Department arrested a 43-year-old foreign male suspect at a house in the village. 
TAWAU: Police arrested four suspects, including a woman, believed to be involved in a house break-in case reported in Kg Hidayat, Batu 4, Jalan Apas, on May 13. 

Two suspects have previous criminal records.

Tawau District Police Chief, ACP Jasmin Hussin said they received an earlier report regarding the incident from a 57-year-old businessman who claimed his house was broken into.

According to him, the victim realised that the front gate of his house was open and its padlock damaged.

“Inspections on the victim’s house found that several items were missing, believed to have been stolen, including a generator and mechanic’s toolbox,” he said.

He said a check on the suspect’s previous criminal record found that he had three criminal records and one drug-related record.

Following the arrest, the police apprehended another 39-year-old local female suspect on the same day around 11.45am.

A 16-year-old local male suspect was also arrested in the same village on suspicion of being involved in the same case. 

“Checks on the previous criminal records of the two suspects found that the female suspect had four criminal records, while the male teenage suspect did not have any previous criminal record,” he added.

Jasmin said the arrest of the fourth suspect, a 41-year-old man, was made on the same day around noon at the same location (Kg Hidayat).

He added that the police also managed to recover the victim’s reported missing items.

All the suspects have been remanded to assist in the investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
