Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living here has implemented the Maximum Price Scheme for the Kaamatan Festival 2024 celebration period from May 27 to June 2.
In a statement Wednesday, Sabah Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Enforcement head Zulfamy Mat Udi said the scheme sets maximum prices for eight essential goods such as chicken, imported buffalo meat, onions, chilies, live pigs and pork.
It is enforced through inspections and penalties under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 to stabilise prices and supplies during the festival period.
The Ministry has deployed enforcement officers to monitor compliance at markets and businesses statewide.
