Suluk NGO to revive religious activities

Kota Kinabalu: The Persatuan Peranakan Suluk Sabah (PPSS) expressed their intention to contribute to the Taman Aman Jaya-level Qurban Programme during the upcoming Aidiladha celebration. 

PPSS Chairman D Lakson D Majindi said the programme will be held at the Nurul Aman Mosque in Taman Aman Jaya in Lahad Datu in collaboration with the mosque committee and local community, he said after a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

Lakson said PPSS is looking forward to reorganising its activities and programmes based on the advice and views from Juhar as the Association’s patron. 

“Our visit is to keep in touch with him (Juhar) as he is the patron of this association.

“We have requested for a piece of land for the PPSS hall and to build a mosque.

The location has yet to be determined. 

“Previously, many activities were planned but could not be implemented due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“However, we continued to carry out small-scale activities among members throughout Ramadan and the recent Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said.  

He said that PPSS which was established in 2012, now has about 2,000 members nationwide including in Johor, Melaka, Perak and others.
