THE State government has undertaken significant initiatives to address food security challenges and enhance local agricultural production.
A high-level management committee has been established under the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Industry to tackle these issues comprehensively.
This committee is dedicated to focusing on food security issues, ensuring coordinated and strategic actions to mitigate the state’s vulnerability.
Currently, Sabah’s SSL for rice stands at 22.8pc, which underscores the state’s heavy reliance on rice imports. A key initiative to address this issue is the revival of the Sabah Padi Board (SPB), which was recently approved by the State Cabinet.
