Kota Kinabalu: Former Youth and Sports Minister Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah has been appointed as the Sabah State Farmers’ Organisation (PPN) advisor.
Sabah PPN Chairman Datuk Mohd Nazri Abdullah said the decision was made during the Sabah PPN Board of Directors meeting held at the Sabah PPN office in Kolombong, here, on Wednesday.
“With the appointment, he (Liew) who is also involved in the agriculture and food industry can help in the development of farmers in this State,” he said.
Mohd Nazri said Sabah PPN is confident and believes that Liew can contribute effectively in helping the farming community in Sabah.
Liew is the Chairman of the Desa Group, a State government-linked company involved in the agricultural sector, especially the livestock and food production sub-sectors.
Mohd Nazri also announced that Sabah PPN will venture into the rice business here and its surrounding areas soon.
“We will also expand certain businesses involving food production for the local and overseas markets, especially Brunei and Indonesia.
“We are planning to explore potential business opportunities, so that Sabah PPN can generate more income,” he said.
