Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Indian Chamber of Commerce (SICC) said the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has greatly supported the chamber's efforts, including obtaining Permanent Residency (PR) status.
“Collaboration with the State government has been instrumental in driving various socio-economic programmes, addressing critical issues and creating opportunities for growth and development.
“SICC deeply appreciates his dedication and the crucial role he has played in assisting with PR status,” said President Datuk V. Jothi, at its 13th annual meeting at Magellan Sutera, Sunday.
He said the State government's encouragement and support has been vital in bolstering the chamber's initiatives, enabling SICC to address the community’s needs and aspirations.
“This includes lobbying for business loans, participating in economic forums, trade missions and exhibitions and forging strategic partnerships with other chambers.
“The chamber has an indispensable role in advancing the interests of the Indian business community in Sabah.
“We align with the Five-Year Comprehensive Blueprint (2023-2028), which has guided us in making significant strides in addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by the Indian community.
“The chamber has also been actively involved in charitable activities, supporting those in need and strengthening the community's social fabric,” he said, including organising district and state-level Deepavali celebrations.
Also supporting the welfare of temples and Gurdwaras across Sabah, ensuring these important cultural and religious institutions receive the care and resources they need.
