PETALING JAYA: A Malaysia Airlines flight bound for Bangkok was forced to turn back to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport tonight.
Checks showed that flight MH780, an Airbus A330-200, had already returned to KLIA.
Meanwhile, it is understood that the airline has prepared another aircraft for affected passengers, with the plane scheduled to leave for Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport at 11pm.
It was reported by AviationSource News that the plane had to turn back due to an emergency, though there are no further details.
According to the UK-based aviation news portal, the plane had already reached Thai airspace when it declared an emergency and adjusted its course for Kuala Lumpur.
FMT has reached out to Malaysia Airlines for comment.
