SANDAKAN: Consumers are advised against spreading fake news regarding the non-compliance of traders on social media, especially in relation to actions taken by the Sandakan Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).
Sandakan KPDN Enforcement Chief Azdy Zukkry John said this is to avoid any confusion and misunderstandings among users especially in this district.
“KPDN Sandakan Branch on June 28 recently took action against one of the supermarkets in the Sandakan district that was found to be storing halal products mixed with non-halal products in the same cold room.
“Following the action, a picture of the premises of Ternakan Sri Jaya Sdn. Bhd. went viral on social media alleged to be the premises involved.
“KPDN Sandakan would like to clarify that the information spread is not the premises of the incident.
“It has nothing to do with the premises which had been taken action upon by Sndakan KPDN,” said Azdy.
He said investigation into the actual premises where action had been taken regarding the storage of halal and non-halal products is still being conducted.
The case was investigated under the Trade Description Act 2011 [Trade Description (Definition of Halal) Order 2011].
