TAWAU: A house attached to a car wash premises and two vehicles were destroyed in a fire at Mile 5, Jalan Apas, on Wednesday.

Tawau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Jemishin Ujin, said they received an emergency call at 12:27am and deployed 16 officers to the scene.

He said the residential house, connected to a semi-permanent car wash premises, was destroyed.  “Another two vehicles, a Proton Saga, was 10 per cent burnt, while a lorry was destroyed,” he said.

Jemishin said they extinguished the fire using two streams of water from the tank of the firefighter’s water tanker.

“No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire and the total losses are still under investigation,” he said.

Jemishin said his team managed to control the fire at 1.01am and ended the operation at 2.04am.
