Kota Kinabalu: A total of 160 squatter houses on government land designated for the Sabah Forestry Development Authority (Safoda) and forest reserves were demolished in Kampung Agas Tiga Tarok, Pitas, on Thursday, it has been reported.
The land, which was occupied by undocumented immigrants and locals, was previously used for silica sand activities, Info X reported.
The Kota Marudu police chief, Superintendent Zairolnizal Ishak, emphasised that the demolition was crucial to prevent the houses from becoming settlements for illegal immigrants.
The operation involved multiple agencies, including the Marine Police Force, Immigration Department, Lands and Surveys Department and Forestry Department.
