Kota Kinabalu: A 36-year-old Filipino was charged with having 31.3gm of syabu.
Al Najir Hamsani was brought before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan to face the charge against him.
No plea was taken from Al Najir pending the chemist report on the drugs.
He is accused of having the drug at 1.40pm on June 19 by the roadside along Jalan Tuaran, here.
The offence under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and punishable under Section 39A(2) of the same Act provides for a jail of between five years and life imprisonment, and whipping of at least 10 strokes, on conviction.
The court set Aug 5 for mention and ordered Al Najir to be remanded further.
