PETALING JAYA: Those who test positive for Covid-19 are no longer required to report their status on the MySejahtera application, the health ministry said today.
Although reporting is no longer mandatory, people who test positive are encouraged to stay at home, minimise social interactions and avoid crowded places.
Under new Covid-19 guidelines which will begin on July 15, the use of face masks is recommended for:
- those who test positive for Covid-19,
- those who have symptoms, and
- health workers in medical facilities especially when managing patients.
Close contacts of positive Covid-19 cases are encouraged to monitor their symptoms and health status. If symptoms persist or worsen, they should seek further examination and treatment at the nearest health facility, the health ministry said.
Yesterday, health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad told the Dewan Rakyat that Covid-19 patients would no longer be required to undergo home quarantine. Those who test positive will be treated like patients with any other respiratory infections.
Today, he said Malaysia has seen a significant decline in Covid-19 cases, dropping by 77.9% from 17,256 cases to 3,810 cases so far this year. There have been no deaths from Covid-19. Although the Omicron variant and its sub-variants remain prevalent, no new variants have been detected.
