PETALING JAYA: An eight-year-old Sarawakian, Dion Das Louis, has won two gold medals in a US competition considered to be the “Olympics” of the performing arts.

Dion’s dance was inspired by the traditional Dayak Iban ‘ngajat’, which incorporates elements of the ruai (great Malaysian Argus pheasant) and the kenyalang (hornbill), both are birds which symbolise Sarawak.

Dion, who hails from Kuching, also won a silver medal in the formal model and casual model categories.
