Kota Kinabalu: Environmental non-governmental organisation, Meraki Daat Sabah Initiative, handed over a modern shredder machine to Kg Lobong in Gaya Island with hopes of addressing the environmental challenges on the island.

This was part of their Project Picasso initiative which aims to enhance Gaya Island’s natural beauty while promoting eco-tourism and sustainable practices.

The shredder, on loan from local company Gaya Belian Sdn Bhd, will be used to transform non-sellable plastics into eco-bricks for community projects and infrastructure development.

“This project, though challenging, demonstrates the power of collective effort in creating positive change,” said Meraki Daat Charter President Michelle de la Harpe.
