Kota Kinabalu: The Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Abidin Madingkir, said approximately 63 per cent of the State's 7.4 million hectares of land are still covered by forest reserves, Sabah parks, wildlife sanctuaries, and state land forests.
“The permanent forest reserves area in the State has increased by 566.57 hectares, from 5,574,468.003 hectares in 2020 to 3,575,035.573 hectares at present – 49 per cent of the total area of the State,” he said during question time at a State Legislative Assembly sitting, here, on Wednesday.
Abidin was responding to a question from Moyog assemblyman Datuk Darell Leiking.
