Sports carnival for kids successfully held
All the participants at the sports carnival after the closing ceremony.
Kota Kinabalu: The ‘Mencipta Juara’ Sports Carnival organised by the Youth and Sports Ministry through Sabah Sports Board was successfully held at the Beaufort Sports Complex from July 6-7.

The programme with cooperation from Sabah Sports Council, Youth and Sports Department, and State Education Department was officiated by Assistant Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Fairuz Renddan.

The main objective was to give the children an opportunity and exposure to develop their skills at the young age. 

The event involved children below 12-year-old from Beaufort and the nearby districts and saw the participation of 40 teams for the boys and 12 for the girls in the futsal event, while 12 teams took part in the netball event.

City Boys A were the winners in the boys’ futsal event and in second place were Luagan Tiger followed by MFA and Tunas A in joint third.

The shield title was won by Lajau Dragon with Tinuntur United in second place and in joint third were  Bajabug Kids FT A and  Secret C, while the top three places in the bowl category went to West Boys C, Junior Repco A, City Boys B and Ragehaki FA.

The girls’ futsal title was won by Saliwangan Junior Python followed by Batandok Girl, Lajau Phoenix  and Sumandak Kebulu in joint third, while the netball title went to DNC Solid and in second place were DNC Stampede with joint third place going to SK Lajau and LA Flame.

DNC also won two individual awards through Armanda Wenchis as the top scorer and Christina Ive Angel as best attacker, while DNS Stample’s Hawa Dalilah Mohd Hanafiah took the best blocker award.
