Filipino jailed 10 months for assaulting supervisor
He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to one year or fine or up to RM2,000 or both, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A Filipino factory worker was jailed 10 months jail on Friday for assaulting his supervisor, last week.

Arjun Damli Julhasad, 38, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to voluntarily causing hurt to Md Niezam Firdaus Saidin, 22, on July 3, at the Cement Industries (Sabah) Sdn Bhd in Sepanggar.

The prosecution said while the complainant was on duty, Arjun intentionally stepped on his supervisor’s foot  without apologising. 

The complainant reprimanded Arjun for his action and he retaliated by punching Md Niezam’s face which subsequently sparked into a fight.

During the scuffle, Arjun grabbed an iron rod and struck the complainant on the head before the scuffle was broken up by other workers.

The complainant then went to see his employer before being advised to seek medical treatment while Arjun had fled.

The complainant did not know the reason why Arjun had acted in such a manner as they had never had any previous disagreements. 

As a result of the incident, the complainant sustained injuries, including lacerations on his head for which he received three stitches as well as bruises and scratches on the face.

Arjun was subsequently arrested following a police report.

He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to one year or fine or up to RM2,000 or both, on conviction.

The court ordered Arjun to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest and to be referred to the Immigration Department thereafter.
