Kota Kinabalu: Kinabalu Unesco Global Geopark (KUGGp) and World Heritage Site presented new uniforms to all licensed Mount Kinabalu mountain guides.
The event, a collaborative effort between MountKinabalu.com and Sabah Parks, was sponsored by Amazing Borneo Tours as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The ceremony celebrated Kinabalu Geopark’s recent declaration as a Unesco Global Geopark, underscoring the area’s rich natural and cultural heritage.
“Achieving Unesco Global Geopark status is a milestone that reflects our dedication to not only preserving Mount Kinabalu’s natural beauty for future generations but also providing opportunities for local communities through various initiatives within the KUGGp programme,” said Justinus Guntabid, Chief Assistant Director of Kinabalu Geopark, KUGGp and World Heritage Site.
“The Unesco Global Geopark logo on the sleeves of the shirts enables our mountain guides to share our world-class status with pride,” he added.
The new uniforms, symbolic of their unity and professional identity, foster a strong sense of community among the guides.
“The new uniforms not only provide a sense of pride and belonging but also reinforce the commitment of our guides to ensuring a safe and memorable experience for all climbers and visitors,” said Justinus.
