Jailed for having stolen motorbike
The charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between six months and five years and liability of a fine, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: An Indonesian was jailed seven months by the Magistrate’s Court for having a stolen motorcycle.

Muhd Aliff Aldy, 21, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to having a Honda motorcycle belonging to Rizlee Aman on June 25 at 8am, at the roadside of Tanjung Lipat, here.

The prosecution informed the court that the machine was reported missing while parked and locked near Kepayan Point on Nov 7, 2023.

Ronnie Liwin, 29, and Jawree Maikol, 33, admitted to having the Mitragynine, listed under the Third Schedule (Psychotropic Substances) of the Poisons Act 1952, on May 20 at 2.50pm, in front of a house at Kg Warisan, Inanam.

The duo had committed an offence under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952, which provides for a fine of up to RM100,000 or up to five years or both, on conviction.

The court heard from the prosecution that the duo were arrested during a police raid where a bottle suspected to contain Ketum water, with an estimated weight of 280ml, was found on the floor next to them.

The exhibit was then sent for analysis to the Chemist Department which confirmed that the substance contained Mitragynine.

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old single mother of two was charged with dealing in gaming machine.

The charge under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, provides for a fine of between RM10,000 and RM100,000 for every gaming machine seized and a jail term of up to five years, on conviction.

The prosecution in applying for a pre-trial case management (PTCM) date and proposed bail at RM3,000 in two sureties.

Nur who was not represented, requested a lower bail amount as she was unemployed single mother of two.

Lovely set Aug 26 for PTCM and released the accused on a bail of RM1,600 in two sureties.
