TAMBUNAN: Team B Zone 2 combination of SK Kaingaran, SRK St. Theresa and SK Timbou emerged champions of the District Level Pre-school Sports Carnival which was held for two days at the Futsal Court of the Sports Complex and Datuk Anthony Gibun Hall of SMK Tambunan here.
Team A Zone 1 SK Kiawayan took second place while in the third place was Team A Zone 2 SK Pekan.
Other teams that participated in the carnival consisted of the Team B Zone 1 SK Lotong and SK Tikolod, Team B Zone 3 SRK St. David Toboh, Team A Zone 4 SK Bambangan and SK Tiong Widu, Team B Zone 4 SK Patau and Team A Zone 3 SK Pegalan Kusob and SRK St. David.
The carnival was officiated by the District Deputy Education Officer of the Pupil Development Sector, Apollo Jimi.
In his speech, he stated that this tournament aims to unearth the talents of futsal and netball among pre-school students.
He said, this tournament is to select Tambunan district representatives for the State Level Pre-school Sports Carnival which will be held in Kota Kinabalu on August 13-14 this year.
Two special awards were given to players who showed outstanding performance throughout the competition.
The Best Striker Award was given to Dellisha Gwen from SK Kiawayan while the Best Defence Award was given to Adriella Scarlet Ricky Nickholson from SRK St. Theresa.
