Kota Kinabalu: The Tupai King, a newly registered durian variant in Penang, has captured people's attention with an astonishing claimed price tag, up to RM1,000, in this extended durian season.

A Facebook post by user Buza Biz claimed the Tupai King can reach that price due to its scarcity.

The post includes a video showing a man, believed to be a durian vendor, describing the Tupai King’s features.

“The flesh is yellow with a bit of a greenish tint, and when pressed, we can feel that it is very rich in fat. Its aroma is as intense as Musang King,” he said.
