Kota Kinabalu: KKYS Chairperson cum KTYS CEO Datuk Tah Nia Jaman said her mission at KTYS aligns with her previous role as Sabah Education Director.
During her tenure as Education Director, Tah Nia launched the Sepakat Sabah Hebat Strategic Plan, which remains in use today.
One of its seven focal points is increasing student enrolment in critical science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, particularly in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
“Now, at KTYS, a college focused on technology, I feel like I am continuing the mission I had at the Education Department,” she said.
“Being part of the KTYS team allows us to strengthen student intake in TVET and Stem fields.”
She reiterated that her mission and vision remain consistent with her past role as the State Education Director and her current position as CEO of KTYS.
“It is a continuation,” she said.
Meanwhile, Tah Nia said the CEO changes in KTYS are non-issues.
“The CEO position is on a contract basis, which means there will always be leadership changes.”
However, she assured that the core management remains stable, ensuring no drastic changes that could affect the confidence of students or parents.
She said KTYS is regulated by the Higher Education Ministry and the State Government, preventing sudden shifts in its programmes.
“The college has been around since 1990 and continues to operate successfully.
“Changes are expected in any organisation, and a stable management team ensures smooth transitions,” she said.
She added that in a well-managed organisation like KTYS, it is normal for personnel to come and go.
“The college is not owned by individuals and opportunities elsewhere may arise for staff.
“From my experience since joining, I have seen a robust management team in place.
“Adapting to the new environment was smooth, and I believe the change in CEO is a non-issue,” she said.
