SANDAKAN: Most of the roads here are in darkness due to many streetlights, especially in residential areas and main roads in this district not functioning. Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong Ket Kiun said the problem had been going on for a very long time.

“However, until today there is still no action by the relevant authorities” he said.

“Although I have repeatedly raised this matter because I am very worried about the safety of local residents, it is still being ignored, giving the impression that the State Government does not take this issue seriously,” he said, citing darkness in some locations at night such as the BDC to Bandar Letat route, Sibuga Street, Taman Mawar housing entrance, Astana Heights housing.

“The situation makes it difficult for drivers and road users,” said the Warisan Assemblyman, urging the State Government to take immediate action to solve the malfunctioning streetlights before any untoward incident occurs.
