PETALING JAYA: Facebook’s parent company Meta has apologised for an incorrect automated translation yen Malaysia post related to the installation of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim.

Meta’s director of public policy in Southeast Asia, Rafael Frankel, said the company was made aware of a mistake in the automated translation from Malay to English.

Meta also apologised for an error in the automated translation from Malay to English in a Facebook post related to the birthday of Che’ Puan Mahkota Khaleeda Johor.

RTM yesterday clarified that a widely shared post in English related to the installation of Sultan Ibrahim was auto-translated by Facebook from its original Malay text.

The words "junjung kasih" was translated to "condolences" in the text.

The public broadcaster said translated English text will appear if users activate the translation function.
