Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Biodiversity Centre (SBC) has developed a database system to collect the state’s biological resources.
SBC has also developed a citizen science mobile application to collect flora and fauna data.
“The collection includes over 50 years of data gathered by government agencies such as the Sabah Forestry Department (SFD), Sabah Agriculture Department (SAD), Sabah Museum Department, Sabah Parks and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), as well as non-governmental organisations such as WWF Malaysia,” said State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong during the launch of the Sabah Biodiversity Integrated Information System (SaBIIS) and iSaBIIS at a resort here.
The database system was developed by SBC Director Dr Gerald Jetony aimed at transforming the state service as a smart digital government.
