Two injured in Ranau four-vehicle collision
A trailer truck and a 4-wheel drive vehicle were among those involved in an accident near Petronas Oil Station.
RANAU: Two people were severely injured while nine others left unscathed following a road accident involving four vehicles here on Friday evening

Ranau Fire and Rescue Department Chief, Ridwan Mohd Taib, said the incident happened in front of Petronas fuel station Ranau at about 6.44pm.

He said the accident four vehicles, namely a Proton Saga, a Toyota Hilux SR, an Isuzu Dmax and a Trailer Truck.

“Two victims aged 51 and 14 were seriously injured where one was in a Proton Saga and the other in a Toyota Hilux SR.

“The victim was sent to Ranau Hospital by the Ministry of Health Ambulance, while the other nine victims did not suffer any injuries,” he said. 

According to Ridwan, his side received an emergency call at 6.44pm and dispatched a vehicle with six personnel led by PBK II operations commander Becket Gumat to the scene of incident.

“On arrival at a location about 2km from BBP Ranau, it was found that a trailer lorry, two Isuzu Dmax vehicles, Toyota SR and a Proton Saga had been involved in an accident.

“However, no rescue operation was carried out because the injured victim had already been taken to Ranau Hospital in an ambulance before the fire and rescue team arrived,” he said.

He said his team only took information at the incident scene and removed the battery head to avoid any unwanted incident. 

“After making sure there was no more danger, the operation ended at 7.10pm,” Ridwan said.

Meanwhile, he called on all motorists to be extra careful when driving across the district, especially on narrow and bending village roads.

“People are asked to be more careful when driving in rainy weather conditions as well as damaged or under-repaired roads.”
