SANDAKAN: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is aiming to reclaim the Karamunting state seat in the next Sabah election.
Its Karamunting division chairman Lim Kai Min urge the party leadership to negotiate with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) for the opportunity to field a candidate.
Lim, who was re-elected as chairman at the LDP Karamunting divisional conference, emphasised the party’s long-standing presence and success in the constituency.
“Karamunting is LDP’s stronghold. We have been serving the people here since 1995 and won the seat in four past State elections,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that the community would support LDP if the party continued its efforts to serve their needs.
“I hope that our party president, Datuk Chin Su Phin, will negotiate with GRS to allow us to contest for the Karamunting seat,” Lim added.
The call for negotiation comes as in current assemblyman, George Hiew Vun Zin, who won the seat on a Warisan ticket in 2018 and 2020, recently joined Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah.
