Fisherman charged with having syabu
The offence under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.
Kota Kinabalu: A 37-year-old fisherman was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here Friday with trafficking 1,040gm of syabu.

Adslan Johan, who was brought before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie, allegedly committed the offence on July 7 at 6.15pm in front of a shop at Block H, Segama Shopping Complex, here.

However, no plea was recorded from Adslan.

Ahmad Mohd Ali, Ahmad Adlizan, Jaklin Joseph, Zulbin Arifin and Noramizan pleaded separately to having syabu weighing 3.68gm, 1.58gm, 0.54gm, 0.05gm and 0.03gm, respectively.

They had committed the offence between March 1 and May 30 at separate locations here, Manggatal and Inanam.

They were charged under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a fine of up to RM100,000 or up to five years jail or both, on conviction.
