Kota Kinabalu: KM Tun Fatimah of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) is helping to strengthen the security of the country’s waters.

MMEA Acting Director-General Vice Admiral (M), Datuk Saiful Lizan Ibrahim, said the ship, which is MMEA’s main asset, is capable of improving security control in the South China Sea area, especially around the waters of Sabah and Sarawak.

“This Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) has a large size and is placed in the South China Sea due to its concept of operating for a long period of time in vast waters.

“Over the last seven months, KM Tun Fatimah has carried out 108 inspections and 14 arrests, so proving that in that short period this ship has proven that it can enforce the law at sea more effectively,” he said when met by the media during a work visit to check on the operations readiness of KM Tun Fatimah in the South China Sea at the Sabah Port Jetty, here, Sunday.
