Sexual offences: Teacher charged
The offences under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A 44-year-old teacher at primary school, here, was charged with four counts of sexually harassing four of his male pupils.

The teacher Rosle Basas was brought before three Sessions Court Judges to face the charges against him.

On the first count, he pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim to committing the offence against a seven-year-old boy in Aug 2023 inside the classroom. 

There was no mention of which part of the body. The court released him on bail of RM10,000 in two local sureties.

On the second count, Rosle claimed trial before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan, to committing the same offence against an eight-year-old boy in a classroom of the same school on Jan 7 this year.

He was released on bail of RM10,000 in two local sureties. On the third count, he was accused before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus of kissing the cheeks of an 11-year-old at 10am on Jan 4 this year in classroom of the same school.

On the fourth count, he allegedly touched the private parts of another 11-year-old at 10am on Jan 11 this year in the classroom of the same school.

The court offered Rosle bail of RM10,000 with RM5,000 deposited in two local sureties on each charge.

All the judges set Aug 27 for pre-trial case management for all the charges.
