Suspected drug dealer nabbed in Tawau
The suspect nabbed in Tawau.
TAWAU: A suspected drug dealer was arrested with approximately 930gm of drugs believed to be Syabu (methamphetamine) worth RM63,190 in an operation here, on Wednesday. 

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the 48-year-old local man was arrested in a raid at 8.15pm.

He said police initially noticed a vehicle stopped in a parking lot before a man wearing a sling bag exited the vehicle.

“The police approached and stopped the man who upon inspection was found with a black plastic bag containing substance believed to be drugs,” he said in a media statement, here, Saturday.

He said the man, from Batu 4 Jalan Apas, tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. 

“Efforts to track down the mastermind is underway,” he said, adding that the man had been remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

In a separate case, he said, police arrested a man suspected to be a ‘transporter’ along with 13.46gm of Syabu in front of a bus stop at Batu 15 Jalan Apas around 3.30pm on Friday.

He said the 52-year-old foreigner was initially spotted in a suspicious manner by a police team from Bandar Sri Indah Police Station patrolling the area.

“During initial investigation, the suspect handed over three transparent plastic packets of different sizes, each containing clear crystals suspected to be Syabu weighing about 13.46gm worth RM1,100,” he said.

The man who tested negative for drugs was taken to the Tawau District Police Headquarters for further investigation under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
