Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) Sabah organised a first-ever workshop on Hindu Funeral Rituals at the Sri Pasupathinath Temple Hall, neat Bukit Padang, here, recently.
Organiser — Datuk Dr K. Madhavan, who is also MHS Sabah Chairman, said the workshop aimed to address a pressing need to equip the younger generation in Sabah with knowledge and skills necessary to conduct Hindu funeral ceremonies, which are deeply rooted in Indian customs and beliefs.
He said it was organised in collaboration with Ministry of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship together with Sri Subramaniar Temple at Kem Lok Kawi and Sri Pasupathinath Temple, Bukit Padang.
“The event drew attention to the challenges faced by the Hindu community in Sabah, especially the elderly members, who traditionally hold this knowledge, are often unable to perform these rituals due to age-related factors.
