Kota Kinabalu: What started seemingly as a simple errand on a Monday afternoon turned into a frightening experience for two young boys who were stuck inside a lift for nine hours in Petaling Jaya.
The 10-year-old who left home to buy buns and visit a friend was found trapped in the lift for nine hours with his friend, who was only 11, the Star reported.
Cheras police chief ACP Ravindar Singh Sarban Singh reportedly confirmed the incident, saying police had received two reports regarding the incident. Fortunately, both children were found safe.
The aunt of the 10-year-old said he left at around 2pm but had not returned by 10pm.
“The family then searched nearby and everyone was worried,” she told the Star, Tuesday.
The aunt, who only wished to be identified as Ina, said the two boys were finally found at 1am.
“I was told that they were trapped in the lift. The doors of the lift finally opened by themselves and the boys got out in a state of exhaustion and hunger," she said.
